How weaning happens

How weaning happens

LLL Bristol Meeting 10:30 – 12

Thursday 28th November 2019

at Avonmouth Community Centre, 257 Avonmouth Road,
Bristol, BS11 9EN

Feeding an older baby or toddler can be a delicate balance of meeting everyone’s needs. Perhaps you are feeling done, but your toddler isn’t, or feel you are ready to wean in the near future. We’ll explore how weaning might look at different ages, and how the actions we take may support continuing feeding or nudge towards stopping.

We have an enclosed room with plenty of toys making this an ideal space for you to have a drink and a chat while toddlers can play.

All our meetings are free, but we ask that if you are able to please donate a couple of pounds to help us keep the group running. Another way to support the group is to join LLL GB, monthly membership is £2.50 and includes an electronic copy of Breastfeeding Matters, LLL GB’s very own magazine.

LLL Bristol Meeting 10.30 – 12

Wednesday 13th November 2019

at The Milk Shed, 26 North Street, Southville, Bristol, BS3 1HW

Our topic this month is ‘Food for fun’, a great chance to ask all those questions about introducing new tastes and textures.

Around the middle of the first year, most babies are ready to start some solid foods along with their milk.  How can you decide when your baby is ready? What make good first foods? How does breastfeeding continue to fit in alongside these new tastes? We’ll explore all these and more this month, so grab a drink, pull up a chair and join us.

All our meetings are free, but we ask that if you are able to then please donate a couple of pounds to help us keep the group running. Another way to support the group is to join LLL GB, monthly membership is £2.50 and includes an electronic copy of Breastfeeding Matters, LLL GB’s very own magazine.

You don’t even need a question, just wanting to be out of the house for a bit where someone else makes the tea.

We have an enclosed room with plenty of toys making this an ideal space for you to have a drink and a chat while toddlers can play.

All our meetings are free, but we ask that if you are able to please donate a couple of pounds to help us keep the group running. Another way to support the group is to join LLL GB, monthly membership is £2.50 and includes an electronic copy of breastfeeding matters. LLL GBs very own magazine.

LLL Bristol meetings Sept-Dec 2019

Widening horizons

We meet twice a month, on the second Wednesday and the fourth Thursday of each month during term times.

Every second Wednesday we meet, from 10.30am to 12, at The Milk Shed, 26 North Street, Southville, BS3 1HW.

Please note that our meetings on Wednesday 9th October ‘19 and Wednesday 13th November ‘19 will be running at the slightly earlier time of 10am – 11:30am, as there is another group booked into the Milk Shed directly after us.

We also meet every fourth Thursday, from 10.30am to 12, at Avonmouth Community Centre, 257 Avonmouth Road, Bristol, BS11 9EN. Our meetings here are ideal for those of you with older children as there are plenty of toys and space to play while we chat. Whatever the age of your nurslings, you are welcome to come along to either meeting.

Whether you have a question or would just like to meet up with other breastfeeding mums, come along for a chat and a drink. Our leaders will be on hand to offer support.

Mums with bumps, babies and children of all ages are welcome to come along. We start with an informal discussion around the month’s topic and there is always time to discuss any issues mums bring along on the day and to browse through our extensive library on all manner of breastfeeding topics.

Our meeting titles are just a starting point, don’t feel put off if it doesn’t seem relevant to you just at the moment. It’s often surprising where the conversations lead. There will always be an LLL Leader around to talk to about any specific concerns.

Meetings are free and open to all, however if you are not an LLLGB member we ask if you are able to then please make a donation of £2 to help us keep the group running. This helps us keep our Leader’s training up to date, run our library and keep the all important tea and coffee flowing. Becoming an LLL GB member is easy, just visit https://www.laleche.org.uk/join. Membership starts at £2.50 per month. As well as your local meetings you’ll receive regular copies of LLL’s Breastfeeding Matters magazine.
